2016 Dodge Grand Caravan

The Dodge Grand Caravan is one of the most ideal family cars in
the market today.  If you have used this car before, you
will concur that it is almost impossible to find another
vehicle that accommodates a lot of cargo, people, comes with
decent features and most importantly offered at a great price.

The Dodge Grand Caravan is a high quality multi-purpose vehicle
and a hit in the family class. It will come as a disappointment
to many if rumors that the manufacture is going to phase it out
with the 2016 version being the last of the Dodge Grand Caravan

Exterior of 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan

The 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan will adopt a new platform which is
being developed as a joint venture with Lancia. The new body
will be slightly longer and wider and a little higher than the
predecessor. The front fascia will feature a new protective
grille and redesigned angular headlights. The upper part of the
grille will be completed with a trademark Dodge Crosshairs
polished in mantle black and a chrome outline.

Generally, the overall look is boxy with its rear poles
slightly curved and bold lines that make the boxy look
appealing. On the rear, we will see  subtle but effective
styling that  sees the roof pillar unite with tail light
cluster to form a single surface that bulges out to form the
rear bumper and step plate. Lower trim levels will feature
17-inch steel wheels as standard and 17-inch alloy wheels as

2016 Dodge Grand Caravan Interior

The new 2016 Grand Caravan which comes in four trims i.e. the
AVP, SE, SXT and R/T will accommodate seven passengers and
still leave plenty of cargo space. It comes with three rows of
seats. The third row comes with a power-fold option which
quickly converts the space into additional cargo space if need
be. All seats are flexible and adjustable. It will also feature
child seat anchors.

The base model (AVP) will feature dual front, driver knee,
front side, rear and third row and side curtain airbags and
ABS, 4-wheel braking system for safety purposes.  For
entertainment, the vehicle will feature auxiliary audio input,
a single disc in-Dash CD player and an MP3 player. The vehicle
will also feature electronic traction control and a
multi-function remote which controls the doors, trunk and the
panic alarm.

The SE trim will have additional features such as bucket rear
seats, solar-tinted glass and rear air conditioning while the
SXT will come with a voice recognition audio system, Bluetooth,
USB, SiriuxXM Satellite Radio, leather upholstery,
Phone-wireless data link among other features. On the other
hand, the sporty trim level i.e. the top trim R/T will come
with an automatic climate control system, touch screen display
and a subwoofer with 9 speakers with 506 watts.

Engine, Specs and Fuel Consumption

Details are scanty about the engine the manufacturer will put
under the hood of the Dodge Grand Caravan; however, the company
has assured its clients that the new engine will feature
eco-properties.  We believe the manufacturer will use a
3.6L V6 Pentastar engine that produces up to 283 hp. This
engine will be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and
all models will be offered in front wheel drive mode. This
engine will give 17 mpg for city and 25 mpg on the highway when
it comes to fuel economy.

The second engine is going to have some hybrid properties and
we believe it will be a 1.8 L turbocharged Inline 4 which will
be paired with either one or two electric motors along with an
array of batteries. This would give the vehicle a 70-100 mile
range. The gasoline engine will stand as a range extender. The
second engine offered is a 1.8L turbocharged inline 4, which
will be associated with one or two electric motors and a range
of batteries.

Price and Release date

We don’t expect the price of the new model to change
significantly from the predecessor; as such, we expect the cost
for the base (AVP) to be around $ 21,500 while the higher trim
(R/T) will cost around $ 30,000.  The vehicle could hit
dealerships as early as the second half of 2015 according to
information from our credible sources. It is also planned
that the model produces one year, and ending production in
August 2016.

In this MPV segment competition for new 2016 Dodge Grand
Caravan is: Honda Odyssey, 2016 Toyota Sienna and Chrysler Town & Country.
