2017 Infiniti Q60 Coupe

In the past, coupes based from entry-level sedans used to be
identical to their 4-door sisters. However, nowadays,
automakers are doing a lot to differentiate them. Not only do
they stand apart visually but also their names are
different.  Infiniti has done the same thing also.

The automaker is set to release a new coupe next year dubbed
the 2017 Infiniti Q60 which is based on the Q50 sedan. The
vehicle is gorgeous and will really give the likes of Mercedes,
BMW, Audi and Lexus a run for their money.

The new vehicle keeps most of the concepts we saw earlier in
the year at the Detroit Auto Show. Dimension-wise, the 2-door
coupe stretches 184.6 inches long, 23.4 inches wide and has a
height of 53.9 inches and rides on a wheelbase of 112.2 inches.
According to the testing mule, Infiniti has retained the
concept’s beautiful and sleek profile.

At the front, the grille steals the show with its unique chrome
surround. To complement the look are a pair of thin headlights
which are sweptback away from the nose. The lower part of the
trapezoidal grille is more aggressive and is also flanked with
LED fog lights with chrome-accented housings. At the rear, the
vehicle features the trademark subtle trunk lid ducktail.

Other features that have made it to production include its
flowing LED taillights, front air intakes which are similar to
one on Formula One and stylish wheels that have a seductive
flair. Unlike the concept which featured amorphous chrome
exhaust tips, the production model features round outlets.

Sliding inside, you will be met by a luxurious interior that is
Nissan’s response to its competitors. The vehicle offers
special leather upholstery on seats, dashboard, and shifter and
on the steering wheel as well as other parts of the vehicle.

Front seats will be heated while buyers will have an option for
heated rear seats. For entertainment the coupe comes with a
6-speaker audio system but there is an option for premium Bose
13-speaker or even 15-speaker surround audio system. A 7-inch
color touch-screen is mounted at the top of the instrument
panel and buyers can opt for an 8-inch screen which comes with
an option for 3D navigation.

The 2-door coupe will also feature updated connectivity
technology and an enhanced safety package.

Engine Specs and Performance

Nissan will offer the Q60 with a drive-train that matches its
competitors. The Q60 will be offered in two drive-trains.

The first engine will be mainly offered to Asian and European
markets. This engine is a turbocharged 2.0 L, 4-cylinder engine
which also runs in the Q50. The engine produces 211 hp and 370
Nm of torque.

The second engine is a turbocharged 3.0 L V-6 engine rated at
330 hp and 366 Nm of torque. This is the engine that will be
offered in the US market. The automaker estimates the engine to
return 18 mpg, 26 mpg and 22 mpg fuel economy in city, highway
and combined drives respectively. There are also reports that
the engine will be tweaked to provide an optional 400 hp and
475 Nm of torque. The hybrid drive-train available on the Q50
sedan will not be offered on the coupe.

The engines will be paired with a 7-speed automatic
transmission system with manual shifting modes. The coupe will
be offered only on RWD mode but the convertible will have an
option for AWD. This engine powers the car from 0-60 mph in 4.6
seconds and achieves a top speed of 140 mph.

Price and release date

The  Infiniti Q60 Coupe 2017 will make an appearance in an
international auto show in early 2016 probably in the New York
or Detroit show before going on sale later in 2016.

As for the price, it is customary for the coupe to attract a
higher price tag than its sedan sibling. As such we expect the
Q60 to cost a few thousands over the sedan’s $ 38,055 starting

The coupe is expected to start MSRP at around $ 40,000 and go
as high as $ 50,000 for higher trims and extra options.

The 2017 Infiniti Q60 Coupe will do battle with the new models
of BMW
4 Series, Lexus RC, Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe,
Cadillac ATS and Audi A5.
