2017 Lexus LC 500

Since its launch as Toyota’s luxury brand, Lexus has struggled
to cut a different image from the mother company Toyota.
However, the LF-LC coupe concept changed all that. For the
first time the automaker had made a model that would define the
Lexus brand thus silencing its critics.

The 2017 Lexus LC 500 introduces a new kind of excitement and
is set to give the brand a new sense of identity, one that is
unique from Toyota. The Coupe will replace the aging LS as the
brand’s flagship model.    The automaker took the
same stage they used to launch the LF-LC Concept to unveil the
production version christened the “2017 Lexus LC 500″.

The Lexus has managed to transform most if not all of the
LF-LC concept cues to the production version. Read along to
learn more on these styling cues;

2017 Lexus LC 500 Exterior

The exterior profile of the new Lexus LC 500 is stunning to say
the least. The profile is accentuated by a 3D-style mesh grille
which is bordered by chrome accenting. The grille is flanked by
LED headlights that are just located above the L-shaped DRLs.
The lower bumper is integrated with vertical air intakes. At
the rear, the LC 500 features a rear diffuser and a deployable
spoiler which help keep the car stable during high-speed
driving. Its front and rear overhangs are short.

The coupe will ride on 20-inch wheels as standard but there is
an option for 21-inch wheels. The rear wheels will sport
slightly larger tires which have been pushed outwards to the
corners. The wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport
ZP tires. To keep the vehicle firmly planted on the ground, the
Coupe is fitted with a dual-ball joint multi-link suspension
while its 6-piston calipers at the front and 4-piston calipers
at the rear help slow it down.

Extensive use of lightweight materials has helped the automaker
extensively reduce the vehicle’s curb weight. The roof is made
of carbon fiber while the doors are made of aluminum. The inner
structure is made of carbon-fiber. The vehicle is held together
by a high-strength steel structure which results in a higher
torsional strength than even the Lexus LFA.

The vehicle is based on a front-engine rear drive set up which
is specifically designed to centralize the vehicles mass and
lower its COG. This results in a 52/48 front-rear weight
distribution which improves its overall performance and

Inside, the Coupe is pampered with quality materials. Alcantara
is the standard upholstery material on the seats while a Mark
Levinson sound system delivers the tunes. What is not covered
in Alcantara leather is finished in brushed aluminum to achieve
a simple and clean yet luxurious look. It accommodates four
passengers in a 2+2 seating arrangement.

Other features include a thick-steering wheel which offers
enhanced grip when cruising in high speed. The cabin also
features a touch pad and dial like those of the BMW and Audi as
opposed to the Remote Touch electronics controller the
automaker uses on other models.

Expect all latest connectivity features such as Bluetooth,
Wi-Fi, Smartphone integration, USB and Auxiliary ports among
other top notch features to be to be offered as standard. The
excellent styling actually pumps its price beyond the reach of
many youths.

Engine Specs and performance

Under the hood, the new LC 500 comes with the same engine as
the outgoing model. This is the same drive-train powering the
GS F and RC F. It is a naturally-aspirated 5.0 L, V-8 which
comes good with 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque.

However, the engine is mated to a new 10-speed automatic
transmission system that sends power to the rear wheels. The
automaker claims that the transmission system shifts as fast as
the dual-clutch unit. The LC 500 accelerates from 0-60 mph in
4.5 seconds.

Details on its fuel economy will be released later so make sure
to check this page later for more details. I hoped the
automaker could add a turbocharger or supercharger to the
engine but its stunning design does more than compensate for
the lack of my personal cravings.

Price and release date

Though the major targets are financially endowed youths, the
vehicle’s expected price will put many away. The price will
start at around $ 100,000 and go as high as $ 150,000 for a
well equipped model according to rumors. The vehicle will be
released in the second half of 2016.

The Mercedes S550 4Matic Coupe and Porsche
911 Turbo will be the 2017 Lexus LC 500 main rivals.
