2018 Aston Martin Vantage AMR Pro

Every limited edition of an Aston Martin has elicited huge
customer demand over the last few years.  Aston Martin
has recognized this and to show their appreciation, the
automaker has formed a new sub-brand tasked with developing
performance variations of all the automaker’s core models.
Starting the list of models that will get the AMR treatment
is the Rapide sedan and the Vantage, which will be known as
the Rapide AMR and Vantage AMR respectively. These models
were unveiled recently at the Geneva Auto Show. They will go
on sale late this year and early next year as 2018 models.
The Rapide AMR is reviewed separately; this article focuses
on the track-focused 2018 Aston Martin Vantage AMR Pro.

AMR models have adopted a distinctive design language that
sets them apart from their regular counterparts. The design
language is complemented by technologies of the GT racecar.

Exterior and Interior

The 2018 Aston Martin Vantage AMR Pro is a very aggressive
version of the V8 Vantage GTE. The model is so extreme that
it will only be track-focused. The Vantage AMR Pro, however,
wears the same insignia as the Rapide AMR. It also features a
full-height grille as well as bespoke bumpers and a rear
diffuser. The coupe, however, features the same engine hood
and a rear wing similar to the V8 Vantage GTE racecar. Its
center-locking 19-inch alloy wheels are covered in Michelin
Pilot Cup 2 rubber.

On the inside, the Vantage AMR features a similar styling as
the Rapide AMR. The model’s shell-style bucket seats are
wrapped in Dark Knight Alcantara and feature a lime green
accenting. The cabin also uses carbon-fiber unsparingly. The
Vantage AMR cabin is also fitted with a standard racing roll
cage to enhance the safety of the driver when racing at the

Engine and performance

Under the hood, Aston Martin has replaced the 4.7 L, V-8 on
the standard Vantage with a new mill. The engine is sourced
from the AMR GT4 racer. The unit is also a 4.7 L, V-8 that
cranks out 500 horses, hp more than the standard engine. This
means the Vantage AMR is the most powerful Aston Martin
Vantage ever produced. The automaker did not release
performance figures during the launch but as you would bet,
it will post way better figures than the standard Vantage.

Price and release date

Aston Martin is yet to announce official release date or
price of the Vantage AMR. However, the models are likely to
be delivered to buyers starting the fourth quarter of this
year. The Vantage AMR Pro will be very rare as only 7 units
will be produced which I bet have already sold out.

The automaker also took advantage of the Geneva event to
announce that it has collaborated with Red Bull Racing to
develop a hypercar that will be known as the “Valkyrie”. This
beast will be powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5 L, V-12
engine good for a whopping 900 horses. There will be 150
street-focused models and 25 track-oriented models of the
